St Mark's Parish Church in New Ferry, Wirral, is a very much- loved community facility, which was originally built using donations from church members in the 1960s.

Regular maintenance work is carried out on site where possible, but rotten window frames and a worn door lock left the security and energy efficiency of the building at risk.

A £3,900 grant from Biffa Award has allowed the church hall to replace the windows with up-to-date UPVC double-glazed windows throughout, and a new door lock with keys for all necessary key holders.

The grant from Biffa Award gave the church hall the resources to achieve works they could not have carried out on their own, as well as empowering the group to do more themselves in order to provide a valuable and much-improved facility in the community.
