Project/Applicant Name:The Pelham Community Space
County:East Sussex
Theme:Community Buildings
Grant Received:£75,000

Thanks to £75,000 of Biffa Award funding, a large community space can be created at The Pelham – a former Victorian hotel in Bexhill. The project will include the provision of rooms for physical activities, community gatherings and networking as well as a training room, quiet sanctuary area and informal lounge. It will become a central point for the community, catering for organisations and people who want to work in a shared environment. New kitchen and toilet facilities and a platform lift will complete the project. The work will form the fourth phase of a major development project at The Pelham. This is not the first time the project has been awarded Biffa Award funding. In 2017, £47,000 was awarded toward the refurbishment of the ground floor of the building. Find out more
