Thanks to £75,000 of Biffa Award funding, a large community space can be created at The Pelham – a former Victorian hotel in Bexhill. The project will include the provision of rooms for physical activities, community gatherings and networking as well as a training room, quiet sanctuary area and informal lounge. It will become a central point for the community, catering for organisations and people who want to work in a shared environment. New kitchen and toilet facilities and a platform lift will complete the project. The work will form the fourth phase of a major development project at The Pelham. This is not the first time the project has been awarded Biffa Award funding. In 2017, £47,000 was awarded toward the refurbishment of the ground floor of the building. Find out more
This latest stage of development marks another exciting milestone in the life of The Pelham as a charity. This additional space will allow the provision of new opportunities and activities in Bexhill, through our own charitable initiatives, and our local partnerships. -Ollie Jeffs, The Pelham CEO
