Project/Applicant Name:The Woodland Trust - Monkstown Community Woodland
County:County Antrim
Theme:Recreation
Grant Received:£43,416

Monkstown Wood has been a designated Local Nature Reserve since 2017, providing a calm green haven in a busy urban area. Thanks to a £43,416 grant from Biffa Award, the Woodland Trust was able to give this popular reserve a face-lift. New and improved access, pathways, way-markers, benches and interpretation boards ensure that more people can access the site, its stunning three mile waterway and the nearby council-owned wildflower meadow.

This urban woodland is a stunning green space loved by the local community. Biffa Award is proud to have supported this ambitious project to create an even better space to attract visitors to Monkstown Wood.
