In Rushden, Northamptonshire a week of events to help the local community “Get to Know Rushden” will take place from the 4th to 13th July. On Saturday 5th July there will be the launch of the new facilities at Rushden Mission Church, which have just been completed thanks to a £28,000 grant from Biffa Award, a multi-million pound fund that helps to build communities and transform lives through awarding grants to community and environmental projects across the UK.
The improvement project, which was awarded funding under Biffa Award’s Community Buildings theme, included the provision of a fully accessible toilet with baby changing facilities and the installation of a ramp to provide level access into the activities room.
Organised by the Town Council and involving about 45 groups and organisations, the week-long “Get to Know Rushden” event aims to show the community what is going on in the town and encourage them to get involved. As part of this town wide event, Rushden Mission Church will host an open day on Saturday 5th July from 11am to 2pm. There will be exhibitions, craft demonstrations and information about activities that take place in the building during the week. There will also be a BBQ from 12 noon.
The official opening by the Mayor of Rushden, Councillor Richard Lewis, will take place at 11:30am.
