FLITWICK AND DISTRICT HERITAGE GROUP

Flitton Moor Local Nature Reserve in the Flit Valley, Bedfordshire, is a rare wetland habitat that is a priority for conservation. The project 'Flitton Moor - Action for Biodiversity' was awarded £33,660 by Biffa Award, to increase biodiversity in the habitat, by repairing dams to raise water levels, providing a bridge for stock movement, pollarding ancient willows and managing wetland and woodland areas.

The Judges were so impressed with the project that as well as being named Rebuilding Biodiversity winner, it was awarded the Overall Winner trophy at the Biffa Awards in 2012.
